NSS Loads Iron Ore Shipment First
This is a first for Mount Moss Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of Curtain Bros located 105 kilometres North West of Townsville.
Bound for Beilun Port south of Shanghai, the first of two trial shipments is a staggering 49,080 tonnes.
It’s currently being loaded on to the Maritime Cuhee at the Port of Townsville.
“The smooth running of this project is integral to the projects long-term goal of cementing one shipment a month for Mount Moss and by all accounts, it has been streamlined into an efficient supply chain movement,” says NSS General Manager Todd Emmert.
“What this project means to the region is monumental in terms of creating jobs and further infrastructure improvements at the Port.”
The lump iron ore shipment is a large deposit of high grade magnetite from the Mount Moss Project’s Willett Knob ore body which has open pit reserves of 1.4 million tonnes of magnetite product, and is open at depth.
NSS has been engaged to provide a suite of materials handling services to receive, stockpile and load the export product to vessels at the Port of Townsville.
“The team at NSS have been working tirelessly for over a month to ensure that the stevedoring operation at the Port has been managed well,” Emmert confirms .
“We run the supply chain in line with the highest levels of safety and environmental standards.”
