Rail project on track to deliver beefy benefits this year
The State Government said $1.1 million was being invested in the Yeppoon rail line upgrade in the 2019/20 financial year.
The project will reinstate a disused section of rail line and connect it to the Rockhampton JBS Abattoir.
“To date, the team has already replaced two timber rail bridges with culverts and remediated the remaining two timber bridges on this section of the line, with track work along the 1.9km section currently underway,”
Queensland Rail chief executive officer Nick Easy said.
“The project, which is expected to be completed in October 2019, will deliver important supply chain improvements for the Central Queensland beef industry and help to support more than 520 local jobs at the JBC Abattoir, as well as in the beef agriculture, processing and export industries, once complete.”
