Rain halts work at Thalanga
The company said access roads to Thalanga operations had been temporarily restricted, impacting the ability of Red River to safely move operational staff to and from Charters Towers to site.
A skeleton crew will remain on site whilst operations remain on standby.
Red River said production activities at site, particularly the underground mining operations at West 45, had been negatively impacted by the weather conditions and associated grid power outages over the past two months and a slower than expected transition from development to stoping ore.
This had resulted in lower-than-expected underground ore production and reduced concentrate production.
The company expects to be recommence full site operations early next week.
Minjar Gold’s Pajingo site, 50km south of Charters Towers, is continuing operations at this stage with little impact on site from the current weather event, according to general manager Kerry Payne
“There is potential for localised flooding on the Gregory Development Road and we are constantly assessing this situation in relation to being able to transport personnel safely to and from site,” Mr Payne said.
