Young Townsville-Picnic Bay Lifeguards awash with generous donation
NSS, regional Queensland’s premier stevedoring, transport and logistics services provider is proud to support this organisation which has developed a strong foothold in developing youths in the local community, while also increasing safety in local waters.
NSS selected to support this notable community association due to their core role in encouraging fitness, health and an active lifestyle amongst young Queenslanders. The club trains four times per week and also meets each Sunday on the strand, hosting a range of training and personal development activities for their members. In addition the club has a specialised program in place for children between the ages of 6 and 14, offering them expert guidance on healthy eating, sustaining a nutritious diet and maintaining fitness levels.
In announcing the donation Mr. Todd Emmert, General Manager at NSS said: “NSS is committed to supporting local community initiatives and encouraging development within our local area. The Townsville Picnic Bay Surf Life Saving Club really stood out to us as a key contributor to safety and enhancing the lives of local children through fun, fitness and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. We are proud to be involved with this association and we also look forward to working to benefit other community groups in the future.”
The Townsville Picnic Bay Surf Life Saving Club is united under the common goal ‘to save lives and keep our beaches safe’ in a fun, child centric environment. Training as a lifeguard builds strong friendships, a sense of camaraderie, self-confidence, fitness, awareness of sun safety and also creates significant ambassadors for water safety amongst the local community. These are values that NSS hold close given the nature of their business operations. NSS is an equal opportunities employer, noted for its commitment to supporting local causes and also for its focus on ‘giving back’ to the communities in with it operates.
